How to decide when the time is right to move to a Senior Living Environment

One of the most difficult decisions we make is when to give up a home we have lived in for many years and move to an apartment. Often friends or family see that the move may be necessary before we see it ourselves. Here are some questions to ask yourself if this topic has come up:

Has my home become cluttered, or not as clean as I always kept it?

Are there stairs in the house that I must climb to get to my bedroom, bathroom or laundry area?

Am I afraid at night when I hear noises or do I fear falling and not being able to summon help?

Do I sometimes skip meals or eat convenience foods like cereal or sandwiches instead of a nutritious cooked meal at least once per day?

Am I having difficulty maintaining my yard the way I used to?

Do I need to depend on friends or loved ones to clear snow, mow, or do things around the house I always did myself?

Do I have less company or see fewer people, do I find I spend too much time alone?

If you have answered yes to some or all of these questions you may want to begin looking for a Senior Living Community. The Williamsport Home Campus is a CCRC, a Continuing Care Retirement Community licensed by the Pennsylvania Insurance Commission. We have Independent Living Apartments, two levels of Personal Care, and a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Our independent living apartments are on a beautiful campus, have all the comforts of home with none of the responsibilities. Included in your rent are all utilities except telephone and cable television and a chef prepared meal is provided each day at noon. Staff are on site 24/7 to respond to any emergency. Each apartment also has a balcony or patio so you can enjoy being outside in the good weather. Resident Ruth Pyle summed it up this way: “The freedom from responsibility of a home, the happy and friendly attitude of everyone and the fellowship we all share”
