Description

Position Title:            Dining Aide

Department:              Skilled Nursing Center

Shift:                           6:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm, 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 pm

or 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

                                    Weekends and holidays as scheduled

Position Summary: Performs a variety of routine kitchen duties as assigned or outlined on the job tasks, under the supervision of the cook and/or Dietary Director.

Responsibility:

  1. Reads and follows daily menus, production sheets and bulletin board.
  2. Works on tray or food service line.
  3. Serves residents in dining room according to diet.
  4. Pours and covers beverages and prepares and covers foods as directed.
  5. Sets up and buses tables.   Cleans dining room tables and chairs and cleans floor.
  6. Pushes food carts to feeding/dining rooms; cleans trays and cart upon return.
  7. Operates dish machine.
  8. Puts away clean dishes and utensils.
  9. Operates and cleans equipment such as can opener, blender, slicer, coffee urns and garbage disposal.
  10. Cleans and stocks staff dining room.
  11. Fills nourishment requisitions.
  12. Completes and initials job tasks in quality assurance book.
  13. Keeps working areas clean, orderly and safe.
  14. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Washes pots and pans
  2. Performs other work related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  1. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English;
  2. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  3. Ability to recognize and report changes in intake habits of residents
  4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions as given.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, carrying objects,(up to 50 lbs.) overhead, lateral and low reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending and hand/arm/finger usage.

Occasional climbing, stepping downward and squatting. Push/pull 95-300 pounds wheel weight. Infrequent sitting.

Environmental Conditions:

  1. Works mainly in facility’s kitchen(s);
  2. Hard floor surfaces;
  3. Occasional wet floor;
  4. Is subject to interruptions;
  5. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and visitors;
  6. Works beyond normal working hours when necessary;
  7. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs and meetings;
